My first impression of my husband's old workplace was a company Christmas party. Not holiday party: Christmas party. Including the part where we bowed our heads and prayed to Jesus.
I have nothing against Jesus, mind you, and am not even one of those people who believes in political-correctness at all costs. Still, I couldn't help but wonder if there were any Jewish people in the room. Or, say, Buddhists. Because yes, they were welcome to sit quietly and ignore the Praising of the Lord, but sheesh. Talk about uncomfortable. I mean, it just seems rude, the way sharing an inside-joke in front of others is rude.
Spirituality is important to people, and asking them to check it at the door seems a little too extreme. But making others uncomfortable doesn't seem a proper alternative.
Perhaps a "take your God to work day" is in order.
Cheers!
