Another Soldier Will Come Home

A tribute to the hardest job of all.

A poem for soldiers, whose hard work is unparalleled.

This poem was composed by my brother-in-law, Lou Howard, as a tribute to our brother-in-law, Casey Granillo, currently stationed in Iraq.

…Another soldier will come home.

If you listen closely, you can hear the footsteps of a soldier marching off to war.

He’ll take with him… his badge of honor, his commitment to country, his courage and his love of family …resilient and strong.

These are his qualities, a signature of his devotion and timeless care… All united by our prayers… that another soldier will come home.

To many he will march off a “brave heart;” a hero to a country that knows him little …but

To Ashley, Kaitlynn and Alley, ‘his beautiful earthly angels,’ he is adoringly known as daddy.

And to his wife, whose unrehearsed love continues on like the words in a romantic song.

He is a loving best friend, a warm place for her thoughts, and most importantly… another soldier that will come home.

And so, the duty of being a soldier, and the responsibilities of being a father, husband, brother and son are off to the sands that bare no castles.

Yes, you hear them, the footsteps of a soldier… “Mighty,” like those that protected the Emperor of Rome…

The footsteps… of a soldier that will come home.
